予定より1ヶ月遅れてロンドンから戻った作品が玄関を占領していてちょっと困ったなあと眺めながら、この1ヶ月のことをあれこれ思う。
コロナ禍のために飛行機が減便となり、フライトに乗れずロンドンをさまよっていたこの荷物。おかげで東京高島屋での展示は過去作となりました。大変な時世の中にも来場くださった方々、そして、あれれ、作品違うなあ？と思ってくださった方、所蔵品を貸してくださった方に遅くなりましたが心よりお詫びと御礼を申し上げます。
ちなみにプロジェクトパートナーのAnaïsに可愛い赤ちゃんが誕生したので、乾漆ベビーバスを展示しました。
この1、２ヶ月、世界が変形していくのがまざまざと見えました。
でも3.11がたくさんの作品を生んだように、この桁違いの禍からも劇的な淘汰や生活文化の変化はもちろん、たくさんの作品が生まれてくる。悲劇とアートは深い関係性にあるから、この禍を乗り越えた後の世界は豊かなのではないかなとも思うのです。
こうして家に籠っていると、遥か昔に祖先がどこかに籠って身を守っていた記憶が蘇るような気すらしてくる。夜の暗闇、獣達、外に脅威があるというなんだか懐かしい感覚。
こんな日々も最前線で闘ってくださっている方々あってのことです。

Looking at my works which arrived from London one month later than scheduled and is causing a bit of trouble by taking up most of the space in my entrance hall, I am reflecting on the events of the past month.
Due to the reduction in flights due to the Coronavirus calamity, this shipment wasn’t able to board the plane and was stuck wandering around London. Due to this, the exhibition at Tokyo Takashimaya featured my previous works.
I wanted to give a belated thanks and to apologize to those who visited despite the current difficult situation as well as those who noticed and thought “Isn’t this a different work?” as well as those who was able to lend me works from her collection.By the way, I exhibited a bath/bed for baby because a beautiful baby was born to my project partner Anaïs on Feb.
In the past month, we’ve seen many changes in the world.
However, just as March 11, 2011,Fukushima gave birth to many works, this current calamity which is orders of magnitude higher will not only cause dramatic shake-ups and changes to the culture of daily life but also be the impetus for many new works to be created. There is a deep connection between tragedy and art and I believe the world will be a richer world after we overcome this calamity.
I am stuck at home like this, I feel as if the memories of my ancestors somewhere in the distant past are being revived. This is a somehow nostalgic feeling of the threats lying outside such as the darkness of the night and beasts…
